Fall Leaf Story Time & Art With The Little Yellow Leaf

Although we’ve still had some warm days lately, it’s quickly becoming fall. We’ve started to pack up our summer beach stories in favor of autumn themed stories. We’ve been enjoying our fall sensory and snack story time so much. Today, I’m sharing another fun fall leaf story time idea. I’ve paired the picture book The Little Yellow Leaf with a fun and simple painting project that I hope you and your children will enjoy together.

FALL LEAF STORY TIME

Reading The Little Yellow Leaf

The Little Yellow Leaf Fall Leaf Story Time Book

The Little Yellow Leaf by Carin Berger is perfect for an autumn story time. The book tells the tale of a little yellow leaf who just isn’t ready to fall yet. That little fall leaf hangs on well into the cool weather. Eventually, Little Yellow Leaf finds that he’s ready to drop when a friend joins him. The illustrations in the book are sophisticated and interesting. Printed text scattered through out the images adds texture. Little Yellow Leaf, Little Scarlet Leaf, and the other leaves are pictured in gentle ombres of fall colors. Like the illustrations, the narrative of the story is elegant and simple. The beautiful story is an ideal choice to get kids thinking creatively about fall leaf art.
